Peaceful baby sleeping in a blue room.

Keep the peace with placid blue

For a harmonious household, why not try shades of blue?

In a US experiment, prisoners were assigned to red, yellow, blue or green wings, regardless of the crimes for which they’d been convicted or their previous behaviour. Over time, those in the blue and green wings were less inclined to violent outbursts than those in the yellow and red wings. No wonder UN peacekeepers wear blue helmets…

While that may be an extreme example, if your household needs some harmonious tranquillity, why not try a soft blue in the areas where tempers fray, and see if it helps create a calmer atmosphere. Blue has also been shown to reduce crying in babies, and may even help them sleep.
