Great Wall of China looks magnificent against a blue and green landscape.

Is it green? Or is it qing?

Be inspired by China’s perception of blue-green colours.

In the West, there is blue and there is green. But in China, there is qing (pronounced ‘ching’), which is a shade that’s either blueish-green or greenish-blue, depending on your point of view. Qing also symbolises renewal, health, vigour and vitality.

Plenty of colours fit this gorgeous mix of blue and green, including teal, turquoise and cerulean. They make great colours for bathrooms, especially smaller spaces that need a little help looking airy and bright. After all, it’s so much easier to imagine yourself floating in a tropical sea when you’re already surrounded by the appropriate colour.
