Get the party started with orange

Why do the Dutch love orange? Hint: it’s to do with royalty

Orange is the national colour of the Netherlands, and it’s fair to say that the Dutch are crazy about it. Their obsession with the colour is in honour of William of Orange, a sovereign Prince who organised the Dutch revolt that eventually led to independence from Spain. The Dutch monarchy is still called the House of Orange-Nassau and, once a year, the Netherlands erupts into a giant, orange-clad, orange-haired street party to celebrate their monarch’s official birthday.

If you’re feeling festive or looking for a way to get the party started, why not emulate the Dutch enthusiasm for this royal colour and introduce accents of orange into your home?
