Why is grass green?

Isn’t grass amazing? To grow, grass converts sunlight into glucose, ensuring that life as we know it is able to renew itself. Essential to this process is chlorophyll, a chemical that absorbs the red and blue light that comes from the sun while bouncing green light towards our eyes. Because it contains a lot of chlorophyll, grass looks green.

In nature, of course, some grasses are a blueish green, others are almost golden, and there are all sorts of varieties in between.
